Tracy Bontrager

Kansas City's 2025 Sage of Wine!

Tracy has worked in the insurance industry throughout her career, and is currently taking the opportunity to travel and see the world. She moved to the KC area in 1994 from Florida, and what she loves about the wine community here is the feeling you get when opening a bottle of wine and sharing it with friends. “Wine has a way of bringing new friends together to share their life experiences. I have been very fortunate to travel to Croatia and Italy to experience the various vineyards and wines. Each region that I visited allowed me to fully immerse myself and appreciate these wines in the slow and patient joy that these varietals deserve.”

Chris Wells

Chris Wells

Kansas City's 2024 Sage of Wine!

Chris is an Instructional Designer at Catalent Pharma Solutions – Kansas City, and moved to the KC area in 2015. He really started to think about the wine he was drinking around 2019, which opened up doors to try new wines. Through years of tasting and traveling to various wine regions, he cultivated a profound love and respect for the craft.

This is Chris’ first ever wine competition and it has been a blast being able to compete alongside friends. He and his wife vacationed in Italy and spent time in Tuscany at multiple vineyards for their honeymoon – easily his favorite experience.

Chris looks forward to discovering new wines, sharing experiences with fellow enthusiasts, and continuing to deepen his knowledge in this endlessly fascinating world.
